A PERSONAL PROJECT ON IMPROVING ACCESS TO REHAB FACILITIES FOR DRUG ADDICTS

This is an ongoing personal project aimed at addressing the need for access to mental health care especially for people outside urban centers.

Problem: Individuals with drug addiction problems especially outside urban settings don't have easy access to mental health care facilities and resources and awareness of where and how to get the care they need is low.

Solution: This project carries out sensitization and education on mental health care through a blog, and helps connect people with resources in their vicinity as well help them to organize and form community care groups.

Process:

the first step needed was researching the state of availability of mental health care institutions in Nigeria. After which there was Interviewing individuals to asses their knowledge of mental health care resources including rehab facilities.

The current and ongoing step is creating a mockup of the website with a blog to sensitize and educate on mental health care and addiction and to  use google map to locate rehab facilities and community care groups in their vicinity.
